Scholarship Essay

There seems to be a constant battle between whether traditional schooling or online schooling is most beneficial. Well today I am here to share my opinion on this matter. I have been a student at Brigham Young University in Idaho for almost four years now. Yes, I am about to graduate shortly, it’s very exciting and scary. I have tried occasionally to take a class online, trying to keep my schedule during the day open. And every time I have registered for one of these classes, I end up dropping it. The reasons being are that they typically are busy work, I don't have an instructor to talk to easily to clarify things, and let’s face it, and they’re boring. I never feel I learn as much or as well when I'm in an online classroom setting. I need face time, interaction with people. I feel that most students are the same way. Yes, there are those motivated geniuses out there that can conquer online classes without any difficulties. I however am not one of those. Also I feel that with online schooling you miss out on the opportunity and experience of having social interactions. Social interactions are a huge factor in the way our society runs. Yes it’s great if you’re an efficient worker, and are skilled in many fields. But if you can’t converse with your co-workers, or present an idea to a board or committee, you’re kind of in a handicapped situation. You need to be able to interact with people in a normal, appropriate manner.  And so my opinion is, no, I don't feel online schooling is better than traditional.
